Occupy May Day 2013: Fight Precarity

Precarity is upon us; The uncertainty of material and psychological welfare is wreaking a havoc in our lives. How will we pay back our astronomical student loans? Will they ship our jobs overseas? Will we be unemployed? How about underemployment? Will we be targeted and end up in prison because we're a minority? How about issues that affect us all, issues such as climate change, money in politics or income inequality? It's no surprise that many of us feel that we are living a precarious existence. Hunger is a real struggle for 1 in 6 Americans. It's no wonder mental health disorders are "off the roof".

I'm not sure that you can "Fight Precarity". You can only fight the underlying conditions that lead to precarity. If the vast data in Thomas Piketty's new book, Capital in the Twenty-First Century is any indicator, it's safe to say that we're globally heading in the wrong direction. If the "system" does not self-correct, there will be blowback.
