A couple of days ago, Sarah Palin, when asked how she would feel about serving in a Trump administration, said: "I think a lot about the Department of Energy, because energy is my baby, oil and gas and minerals, those things that God has dumped on this part of the earth for mankind's use, instead of relying on unfriendly foreign nations for us to import their resources".

How does she know? Did God really "dump" oil and gas and minerals for mankind's use? Or, so that we're not dependent on "foreign nations"? Are "foreign nations" excluded from mankind? What about the environment and the impending climate disaster due to fossil fuel use. Did God ask us to destroy our environment? Is the anthropocentric reading of the Bible and other Holy Books correct?

If you believe that God "dumped oil and gas and minerals for mankind's use", then climate change denial is somewhat normal. It also happens to be very convenient for Exxon-Mobil, BP and Shell. But what if you are misreading the Bible? Will you be culpable if the environment that sustains all life is destroyed?

When a highly successful professor finishes his lecture, some students get it, some don't and most just get some of it. Even if every single word of a Holy Book were true and free of contradiction, knowledge is still limited by the consciousness level, past experiences, overall temperament and presuppositions of the reader.
