Coney Island Parachute Jump

Coney Island Parachute Jump

The 262 feet tall Parachute Jump is a defunct Coney Island amusement ride, that stands as a Brooklyn landmark. It was operational between 1939 and 1968.

Coney Island is an Atlantic Ocean peninsula located in Southern Brooklyn. It was originally a barrier island, before it was land-filled into a peninsula. Until the end of World War II, it was a major resort and the site of Luna Park. The word "coney" is an alternative word for rabbit. Rabbit Island is regularly featured in films, television shows, cartoons, and theatrical plays.
