Street photography under harsh light is especially difficult. I have only one tip: manually expose for "daylight" and wait until your subject faces the light. For an ISO 200 camera, daylight exposure is 1/200 at f/16 (for any camera: 1/ISO at f/16). I generally manually expose 1/2000 at f/5.6 (ISO 200) and change shutter speed for compensation.
