The core beliefs of the
Hare Krishna movement are based on traditional Hindu scriptures such as the
Bhagavata Purana and
Bhagavad Gita. In the West, the "Gita" has been highly praised by the likes of Aldous Huxley, Henry David Thoreau, Albert Einstein, J. Robert Oppenheimer, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Carl Jung, and Herman Hesse.
"Saints who know their Selves, who control their minds, and feel neither desire nor anger, find Eternal Bliss everywhere... [With] governing sense, mind and intellect [constrained], intent on liberation, free from desire, fear and anger, the sage is forever free." --
Bhagavad Gita 5:17
