It's extremely tricky to distinguish between a Black-capped Chickadee and a Carolina Chickadee. This one shows the characteristics of a Black-capped.

Chickadees have a very distinct social order where the most aggressive bird dominates the rest and all the others fall into a decreasing pecking order. They rarely migrate. They communicate with a complex range of calls signifying dangers, territories, food sources. They also stash their food and return later when food is scarce.
