Chios, the Mastik Island, is the fifth largest of the Greek islands, separated from Cesme - where this photo was taken - by 4.5 miles. The island has been habitated since at least the neolithic era. Homer is frequently said to be born on the island of Chios or in Smyrna. Stoic philosopher, Ariston of Chios is also from the island.
