Different names for the same thing. The
doner kebab, and its variants all stem from words with the meaning, "turning". Although all these kebabs are often promoted with a long history, they are believed to be originating from
Bursa, in the 19th Century.
The doner kebab is fast becoming one of the
most popular fast foods all around the globe, with regional variations and adaptations in ingredients and service. The variant pictured above is the "yatik kebab", which is cooked on a horizontal spit over wood embers.
