Hadrian's Gate, Antalya

Hadrian's Gate, Antalya

Built in 130 AD to commemorate Roman Emperor Hadrian's visit to Antalya, Hadrian's Gate is still used as a gateway to the Old City today. Legend has it that The Biblical Queen of Sheba passed through a predecessor of the gate, but the city of Antalya was founded much later, at about 150 BC, by the "brother loving" King of Pergamon Attalus II Philadelphus.
